Fifteen Rescue Dogs Find New Homes at Lucky’s Mutt Madness at Louisville Trade Show
Adopted puppies are now settling into their new homes forever just like Animal Shelter Appreciation Week, November 1 to 7, 2021, starts.
“For the dogs, the event was to find a permanent home”, explains Kris kiser, President of the TurfMutt Foundation, OPEI and Equip Exposition, “⦠and for the show attendees who create the green spaces America loves. Bringing home a new pet emphasizes the importance of what they do everyday: go out, work there and enjoy it. ”
Equip Exposition is the largest event for outdoor electrical equipment, lawn and garden equipment, light construction and landscaping industries, and in 2019 it was the 6th in United States according to the Gold 100.
When Zechariah Watson, owner of Site Pros Landscaping, and Alissa wells stopped by Lucky’s Mutt Madness, they had no intention of adopting a dog. Then they met the fiery Kaia, a mixture of spaniels, and “it just happened,” they say. Kaia moves into her new home near Orlando along with their five-year-old lab mix, Snowman and the two dogs accompany them to work. “We haven’t had a puppy for five years and she’s going around the house!” they say.
Ace, an American Bulldog mix, caught the eye of Jacqui Hubacek, who wanted to adopt a dog that could play with her two boys, Greyson and Ayden. She was able to meet a number of puppies at the event and chose Ace to bring home Illinois because he was so sweet. She reports that Ace already masters the sitting position and that her youngest son tells her every day, “You picked the perfect one!”
“We lovingly call dogs up for adoption during Mutt Madness as ‘show dogs.’ This is not Westminster, but we have helped place many needy dogs into their homes forever,” Kiser said.
âIt’s so gratifying to see our amazing rescue dogs find new homes. Some of them have gone through a lot of difficulties, âsays Alisa Gray, vice president of outreach at KHS. âWe are delighted to partner with the TurfMutt Foundation again and look forward to the 2022 event as well as the new 5K Browse Louisville for the benefit of the rehabilitation and adoption of rescue animals. “
At Lucky’s Mutt Madness 2019, current TurfMutt spokesperson Mulligan found his home with Kiser. She resides in Virginia and now continues to âmove forwardâ by inspiring children and their families to care and spend time in backyards, parks and other green spaces.
Kiser adds, “Our green space has become more important than ever, and the ‘backyard’ trend of doing more activities, from work to socializing outdoors, is here to stay. Dogs are here to stay. are a great way to reconnect with the outdoors. “
During the event, the TurfMutt Foundation donated a $ 10,000 check to KHS to support their good work in rehabilitating, rescuing and adopting animals. âThe work of the Kentucky Humane Society is amazing and we should all appreciate what animal rescue organizations are doing every day,â Kiser said.
With the announcement of the rebranding of the GIE + EXPO trade fair in Equip Exposition and of a new office in Louisville, plans are also underway to expand the activities of the TurfMutt Foundation. The October 19-21, 2022 the show will include a fundraiser 5K KHS Benefit Run, Mulligan’s Fun Run, to be held downtown Louisville. The Compagnie Ariens will sponsor the race.
