Originally from Mississippi and transplanted to Texas for 27 years, Diane Long is a wife, mother, and English teacher who wrote Pecan Plantation Bits for a total of 14 years. She spends her time collecting news from the neighborhood and teaching students how to avoid the passive voice.

Residents of Pecan Plantation have one last chance to participate in a 2021 fundraiser to support emergency volunteers in our community.

The VFD Pecan Plantation VFD Emergency Medical Service Auxiliary Holiday casseroles and pastries sale takes place today, Saturday, December 4, from 10 a.m. at PAC and continues until all items are sold.

Shoppers will want to arrive early for the best selection of hearty, oven-ready frozen casseroles and soups, in addition to a variety of homemade sweets and delicious pastries. Many items will be wrapped and / or decorated for gifts or parties.

Patty Eatmon (951-970-5490) and Shirley Jairett (530-401-4936) are the co-chairs of this important fundraiser of the year and are available to answer questions or provide more information on the sale day. of pastries.

Every penny raised today benefits Pecan’s emergency response groups, and the Auxiliary also looks forward to presenting this year’s funds, in addition to presenting annual awards, at her upcoming Christmas party.


Resident and Pecan Artist Heidi Easley returns to PAC today, Saturday, December 4, 6 to 8 p.m. for a “Sleigh Painting Party”. The event promises fun, prizes and music as attendees create a wooden sled for the holidays.

Santa and his horses will come to Pecan on Sunday, December 5 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. when our community stables hold an open house.

Photos, horseback riding, crafts and holiday refreshments are on the menu for this fundraiser ($ 15 per vehicle), and the proceeds will be donated to the Pecan Equestrian Center.


The Pecan golf course will be busy next week.

The Ladies’ Golf Association will be enjoying their Christmas party on Tuesday, December 7 starting at 9 a.m., and the annual Toys for Tots tournament will be held on Saturday, December 11 starting at 9 a.m.


The annual Pecan Plantation Woman’s Club Christmas Home Tour takes place on Thursday, December 9, and this hugely popular event includes a full day of holiday merriment.

The Santa Claus workshop and bakery open from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the club house will begin the festivities, and the comings and goings of the beautifully decorated houses will last from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The PPWC ladies use the funds generated from this holiday activity to support philanthropic work, club projects and the scholarship fund of their choice.


It is starting to look a lot like Christmas around Pecan Plantation thanks to the hard working people who have decorated our community so well.

A great deal of gratitude goes to Mary Scott and the group of volunteers who made CAP into a Christmas Wonderland. Plus, the Green Thumb Garden Club created holiday magic in the front and back circles so people coming and going to enjoy the festive views.


Sunday, December 18 will be a full day of Christmas merriment in the ballroom at the Pecan Plantation clubhouse.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Father Christmas (accompanied by his elves) will be present for the photos. Hot chocolate, cookies and holiday crafts will also be part of this round-trip event which all ages are welcome.

Then, from 6 pm to 9 pm, “Cocktails and Candy Canes” will take place with drinks on sale and free appetizers (accompanied by holiday music) available to participants. Reservations for the evening are requested: 817-573-2641.


The Pecan’s Woman’s Club thanks everyone who took part in its recent fall fashion show: the models, the local merchants, and especially Susan Potter and her diligent committee. Attendance at the event was strong with 180 members and guests, all of whom were delighted with the day’s program.
