Katie Price: From £45million glamor model to bankrupt mother
Most people know who Katie Price is, having been in the public eye for over two decades.
The mum-of-five has worked her way up over the years to become a multi-millionaire, but in recent years the former glamor model has faced bankruptcy. Katie started her career with a London-based modeling agency in 1996.
At the age of 19, she underwent the first of a succession of breast surgeries, going from a 32B to a 32FF. It was in the mid-90s that the 44-year-old really came into his own when he appeared on red carpets as “Jordan” in daring outfits, winning fans but also becoming fodder for tabloids – and considered by some to be a fair play for criticism.

During her party years, she met footballer Dwight Yorke and the couple had a child together. Harvey was born in 2002, with septo-optic dysplasia, Prader-Willi syndrome, autism, visual impairment and a learning disability.
Katie spoke openly about the struggles of caring for Harvey, stood up for her son and other disabled people and called out trolls who attacked her son online. Continuing her modeling career, she appeared in FHM, Vogue and the UK and US versions of Playboy magazine before agreeing to appear on the 2004 edition of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!.
It was on this show that she met her first husband Peter Andre who is also the father of her second son Junior, born in 2005, and her daughter Princess, born in 2007. It was after the birth of her daughter that She traveled to the United States for breast reduction and ‘rhinoplasty’ but was unhappy with the results and underwent further surgeries in 2008.
Peter, 46, and Katie co-hosted the short-lived late-night chat show Katie & Peter: Unleashed in 2007 and have starred on several reality TV programs together (Katie & Peter: The Next Chapter, Katie & Peter: The Baby Diaries, Katie & Peter: Down Under and Katie & Peter: African Adventures, and many more), before ending their relationship in 2009.
Katie has branched out, earning money from other avenues, such as a failed music career where she sang ‘A Whole New World’ with husband Peter Andre, and was a 2005 Eurovision Song Contest hopeful His bestselling books, including his autobiographies “Being Jordan” (2004) and “A Whole New World” (2006) also contributed to his fortune.
And she’s also written a number of novels, Crystal, Angel Uncovered, Sapphire and Paradise, and a series of children’s books called Katie Price’s Perfect Ponies. Trying to lean more towards fashion and beauty, Katie’s fragrance “Stunning” was released in 2007 and her KP Equestrian line was also launched in 2007.
Following these adventures, Katie married her second husband, MMA fighter Alex Reid, in 2010, but separated a year later. She then married husband number three, Kieran Hayler in the Bahamas in 2013 and went on to have two children together, Jett in 2013 and Bunny in 2014.
Since then Katie’s world had started to spiral, narrowly avoiding bankruptcy in 2018, agreeing to pay off her debts, Katie admitted the stress led her to abuse cocaine and was treated at the Priory. Things got worse for the mother of five in 2019 when she received a three-month driving ban in January after breaching the terms of a previous speeding ban.
The troubled star was also arrested in February 2019 and found to be over the alcohol limit twice, adding another three months to his ban. Continuing to struggle to pay her debts, Katie was declared bankrupt on Tuesday, November 26, 2019.
She didn’t bother to show up in person—nor did she send a lawyer to defend her corner. JMW Solicitors, who represented the insolvency practitioner overseeing Price’s IVA, said: ‘She did not acknowledge the petition.
She had submitted a payment plan in the form of an Individual Voluntary Agreement late last year to manage repayments of an estimated £250,000 debt. But Katie was unable to meet her creditors’ demands and was unable to repay the six-figure amount on time.
She was supposed to repay £12,000 a month to her various creditors. But Katie failed to meet the terms of her debt plan and in September 2019 a bankruptcy charge was brought against her West Sussex mansion. Now in 2022, Katie is engaged to Love Island star Carl Woods.
The mother-of-five also faces more problems in court on June 24 after pleading guilty to breaching a restraining order against her ex-husband Kieran Hayler’s fiancée, Michelle Penticost. Judge Stephen Mooney, who spoke to the Mucky Mansions star and his lawyer after the plea, warned Katie that she was “at risk of going to jail”.
Katie’s £3.2million bankruptcy hearing was also canceled this week and it is unclear when it will continue.
