Mike Tindall looks relaxed as he steps out in Soho alongside childhood friend Katherine Kelly

Mike Tindall looked relaxed as he stepped out in Soho alongside childhood friend and former Coronation Street star Katherine Kelly yesterday.

The former England Rugby Pro, 43, who is married to the Queen’s eldest granddaughter, Zara Tindall, donned a gray polo shirt as he walked through London alongside the actress.

Although they may seem like an unlikely couple, Katherine is a former classmate of Tindall’s, her parents living near her father Phil and mother Linda in Yorkshire.

It’s a decidedly low-key appearance from Mike after a busy few weeks, with the sportsman accompanying his wife to the royal Easter service and Prince Philip’s memorial event.

Katherine, who went to school with Mike, got her big break in 2006, when she landed the coveted role of Becky McDonald on the long-running ITV soap opera Coronation Street.

Originally signed up for 12 episodes, the Barnsley-born actress would film over 700 episodes during her unexpectedly extended stint, which ran until 2012.

Katherine was a guest at Mike’s royal wedding to Zara in Edinburgh and it appears the duo have remained close.

The pair could be seen en route to the Film Soho company, which includes several smaller brands, including Studio Soho Distribution and Soho Talent.

The royal, who won 75 caps for England between 2000 and 2011, was pictured holding a suit bag from high-end tailors Cad & The Dandy as he drove through town.

Mike has had a busy time in recent weeks, with a string of rare high-profile appearances at various royal events.

He joined his wife Zara and their daughter Mia at the Easter Mattins Service in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle last week.

Zara paired the £350 LK Bennett dress with nude heels and a stunning pillbox-style headpiece, while schoolgirl Mia looked pretty in a blue floral dress. The couple left their youngest children, Lucas, one, and Lena, three, at home.

The Cambridges led the senior royals for the Easter service, when they were unable to attend due to ongoing mobility issues.

The Tindall family looked polite, while the Cambridges and Sophie Wessex also arrived dressed in blue.

Days earlier, Mike was still the doting dad as he cuddled baby Lucas, one, while taking his children to see Zara compete at the Burnham Horse International Horse Trials in North Norfolk.

Mike took Mia and Lena to the carnival during the trials while the equestrian Zara showed off her show jumping skills. Dressed in jeans and a red sweater, Mike places baby Lucas in his lap, who stays warm in a blue puffer jacket.

Mike looked dapper in a gray suit which he paired with a white shirt and navy tie.

Afterwards, he joined his wife and cousins, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, for a long lunch at celebrity favorite restaurant Scott.
