Not to mention the gifts! There are tons of prizes and giveaways around every corner.

ABOUT OAKFIELD FARM

In 1988 Mary Slack fell in love with the farm and together with her longtime friend David Stubbs purchased the farm from the Harrison family.

In 1991 David’s son Matthew Stubbs quit his teaching career and marched from Cape Town with a load of horses. The task of making the farm pay was not as easy as it seemed. Quail eggs were sold, guinea fowl were bred, and 15 rather wild Warmblood horses arrived from Alzu Stud to be broken in and trained as riders.

However, it was the old barn overlooking the native wood and freshwater stream that came to the rescue. This has been converted into a reception venue and is now known as the Homestead Venue.

Founded in 1991, the property is steeped in history, from the dairy built by Italian POWs in 1940, to the majestic oak tree that once served as a resting point for Voortrekkers before crossing the flooded Jukskei River.

It unfortunately fell after a storm, but pieces of the old trunk can still be seen commemorated in the garden.

Inspired by an old stone altar in an oak forest where five generations of Halse children were married on their beautiful family farm, a charming chapel has been built in the poplar grove. Having grown up riding a horse, it also seemed like a no-brainer to include a carriage. Thus began the vision – the one stop wedding venue. Over the years, the unique Summerhouse was completed, followed by the Bridal Suites and the Guest House. The old chicken coop in which old Mrs. Harrison cultivated her precious orchids then became the magnificent Conservatory.

With all the original farming history and background, Oakfield Farm has made sure to retain as much of the old farmhouse as possible. Nguni cows and horses graze in the fields, while geese and guinea fowl feed on the lawns.

Oakfield Farm has three unique locations to suit all tastes.

The HOMESTEAD venue associated with the FOREST CHAPEL is the location of choice for many magical celebrity weddings. The Homestead is a hidden gem nestled in an enchanted native forest. With the addition of fire pits in the winter, the Homestead provides a cozy place to celebrate with lots of family and friends, accommodating up to 350 guests.

The SUMMERHOUSE venue associated with the CONSERVATORY CHAPEL is an intimate fusion of contemporary glass architecture set in an English country garden. The Summerhouse is a favorite due to the unique look of the place. The crackling fires in winter give the place a special atmosphere, easily accommodating 120 or more of your family and closest friends. The mock orange that is part of the venue has one foot inside and one outside, adding to the distinctive look of the venue.

The DAIRY historic site associated with the DAIRY CHAPEL is a charming old place offering beautiful sunsets and is surrounded by vast golden fields. The ideal place for intimate meetings of less than 120 guests. An olive grove sits in front of the pink rose arches that surround the cocktail area venue, and a secret garden allows for some of the most stunning photos of newlywed couples.

Oakfield Farm is the perfect venue for those looking for a fresh approach to their exhibition, corporate presentation, product launch, team building, conference, matrix farewell or annual function.

We attach great importance to the provision of specialized facilities, qualified and enthusiastic staff and a dose of freedom and creativity essential to the success of your reception.

Internal coordination and exceptional event management enable the client to achieve specific goals cost-effectively and with minimal hassle. Over the seasons, our dishes change with the flavors and colors of our environment. We source high quality ingredients that are always freshly prepared. Create your own special menu to delight your guests and within your budget.

Our friendly family of staff know that no celebration is complete without great food, exceptional service and at Oakfield Farm your wedding kitchen will be a feast to remember! When booking your event, you will meet your dedicated sales coordinator who will assist you with all aspects of budgeting and provide you with a list of preferred, tried and tested vendors at Oakfield Farm for you to choose from. You’re welcome to bring in your own vendors, but the list of preferred partners makes it a little easier to find the perfect vendors. A detailed checklist will ensure that nothing is overlooked.

It all takes place two weeks before the big day when we introduce you to your very own dedicated coordinator and butler who will take care of every aspect of the day.

From welcoming the bride to introducing the guest into the chapel, your day is taken care of.

Our three rooms are each paired with a dressing room for the bride and a suite for the groom. Once the groom is escorted to the chapel, the suite is refreshed for the couple for the evening. The guest house, particularly suitable for groups of 8 to 12 people – whether the family of the bride and groom or a corporate booking – is located in the original pear orchard of the farm and reserved exclusively by a couple.

The guest house has three double bedrooms with two shared bathrooms and one double bedroom en suite. The mezzanine with two single beds and two trundle beds is perfect for children or young adults. Maximum of 12 people.
