Organizers of Wigan Township Platinum Jubilee festivities issue new call for participants
Standish plans to mark the Queen’s 70 years on the throne in style.
On Friday June 3, it hosts a Best of British parade and party at the Thompson House Equestrian Centre.
Organizers had wanted the parade to pass through the center of Standish, but the council said ‘no’ as it would block an emergency route, so it goes from the Bradley Hall industrial area to Thompson House.

Standish groups and organizations can get involved.
Businessman Martin Ainscough said: “We want to see some of them decorating tanks – and if some are having difficulty getting vehicles I hope I can help them – but others may want to We already have a few marching bands signed up but there is room for more and it would be great if some people wore fancy dress whether it was 50s outfits, circus performers or reds , patriotic whites and blues.
A beer and food festival will take place over the weekend at Thompson House Farm.
Thursday evening will see the solemn lighting of a Jubilee beacon.
On Friday, June 3, the party continues during the day and that evening there will be music.
With the Epsom Derby on Saturday June 4, guests will dress up and watch on the big screen. There will be soul and motown live music later.
Sunday sees the Big Jubilee Lunch and the Beer Festival finale, with live music in a Proms style and picnic hampers.
