The question of whether President Joe Biden should forgive student loans – and how much should be forgiven – has gained a lot of air among Democrats in recent times.

More than 40 million borrowers owe $ 1.6 trillion in federal student loans. This has led some politicians, voters and activists to call on the government to write off at least some of America’s student debt.

While some continue to call on President Biden to forgive up to $ 50,000 in federal student loans, Biden would only pledge $ 10,000 at a recent CNN town hall. President Biden’s comments were then clarified by the White House press secretary, who noted that the president was not promoting a pardon worth $ 50,000 without limitation.
